Video Poker Expert Trying to Prove Game is Not Random
Manufacturers of video poker machines state that the games play randomly and it is a game of chance. Rob Singer, self proclaimed video poker expert, disagrees. Singer has been conducting independent research to prove that video poker machines do not play at random as manufacturers claim.Video poker authorities have been making fun of his research saying that the game works according to the playing strategy on mathematical probability and the random operation of the game. Singer is currently conducting a test that he calls the fifth card flip over at video poker machines in Nevada.
Singer plays one credit on the lowest denomination and then he records the times he is dealt two pair, an open-end straight and four to a flush. With these hands he also documents the card he discards and with this documentation he has found that more often than not he draws the same value card of a different suit that completes the hand.
According to his research, Singer was able to draw the same value card as the one he discarded at a rate of 47.2 percent. Which in a random situation the percentage rate would be only 6.38 percent. This is a huge difference.
Singer believes that video poker machines work in pattern and that they operate in hot and cold cycles. This thinking is what makes video poker authorities to shun Singer. But no matter what the authorities seem to say Singer says he has won the game since he has developed his short term playing sessions.
