Video Poker could be banned in Peoria County
The state of Illinois recently legalized the video poker and some are none too happy about it. Peoria County, an area of the state, is already considering their own ban on video poker as the state law that was passed gives the option to local jurisdictions to pass their own bans if they wish.It seems the feelings are mixed in Peoria on what should be done. Some say that video poker should be banned because it takes away money from families that barely have any to begin with. Others say a local ban would take away the rights of local business owners to offer the game.
The law to legalize video poker was signed into effect by the governor of the state to help raise revenue. The state has a multibillion dollar budget deficit right now so any extra funds that can be brought in will help greatly.
So for the state to thrive the ban does not need to be place in Peoria County. Only time will tell if local officials will enforce a ban on the game or let the game continue in the area.
