Video Poker Addict Charged with Fraud
Many people enjoy gambling at casinos whether it is online or land casinos. Most people can go to the casino or visit online, lose or earn a little money, and then quit. But for some people, gambling is an addiction and it can destroy their lives if they do not get help. Recently a Pennsylvania woman was charged with fraud after she took drastic measures to pay for her video poker habit.

Diane Stanesic age 56 had a video poker gambling problem. To pay her debt accrued from playing the game, Diane submitted a false insurance claim for cancer treatment. Diane would use the money earned from the claim to pay for her gambling debts.

Diane had a background in nursing so she used her knowledge to submit 29 false medical insurance claims that total $36,000. She did this in 2007 and 2008. The claims submitted were for her husband and herself, both of which do not suffer from cancer.

Diane’s husband was unaware of what was going on and she was able to keep up the charade by taking the money and paying off her video poker debt. She has now been charged with insurance fraud, theft by deception and other offenses.
