Libertyville Votes No For Video Poker
Libertyville is a village in Chicago and the village board recently voted no on the subject of video gambling. On Tuesday the board had a unanimous vote to ban video poker machines as well as similar devices. This is the latest area of the state to ban such games and the second area to make the judgment this past Tuesday. The Lake County Board also approved the same ban just earlier in the day. Other communities in the area have also voted to ban the gaming.
Local communities banned the gaming after state lawmakers made video gambling legal in bars, clubs and restaurants. This decision was made over the summer to help with the $31 billion public-improvement plan.
The police chief of Libertyville stated that the addition of the games would most likely not cause a noticeable increase in crime in the town; officials stated that the machines revenue would not be worth the potential problems the games might bring.
