Illinois Committee Wants to Study Video Poker before banning the game
Batavia is a city in the state of Illinois and a proposal was recently presented to government officials to ban video poker within the city limits. Members of the City Council Government Services Committee in Batavia stated last week that they would like to study the issue of video poker further before they decide if the game should be banned. One chairman said she was uncomfortable with the idea of banning the game without more information. A vote of 5-2 was made rejecting the new proposal to ban video poker within the city limits. Many on the council do not support the idea as it would have great social cost.
The recommendation of the committee will go to the full City Council for review on November 2nd. During the meeting several restaurant owners spoke in favor of the game while many church pastors spoke negatively.
It will be interesting to see what the full City Council finds this November and if the game will continue in the city or if it will be banned.
