Convict Charged Again With Running Illegal Video Poker Machines
John “Duffy” Conley is already in prison for running an illegal gambling operation. It is expected that Conley will be charged with at least one additional count of illegal gambling. Conley was charged yesterday with one count of conducting an illegal gambling business. Conley was running an illegal gambling operation that housed video poker machines as well as taking sports bets. This occurred from October 2005 until June 2006. Conley is expected to plead guilty to the additional charge.
Conley is known in the Ohio area for being a major force in Video Poker. In 2006 Conley was sentenced to four years in prison and was scheduled for release in June of this year. Before that Conley had spent nine years of his life in prison for running an illegal video poker ring.
Released in 2004 it would be at least two years before Conley faced charges again.
According to prosecutors, Conley placed more than $3 million in wagers in just one month during 2005. Conley was able to place that amount in bets because he was taking in thousands of dollars in bets each day.
